Why is my water bill increasing?

If you’ve noticed your water bill going up, it’s not due to rate increases. In fact, the District has not raised water rates in many years and the RWA lowered its rate three times over the last two years.

The most common reason for a higher bill is increased water usage. With spring here, irrigation systems tend to run more frequently, and many residents are power washing homes, driveways, or washing vehicles. These activities can add up quickly.

To keep a closer eye on your water usage, the Board recommends downloading the EyeOnWater app. It’s a great tool that allows you to monitor your consumption and can even help detect leaks. Many homeowners have discovered leaks in their homes or sprinkler systems using this app.

For more information on understanding your water bill, available tools for tracking your usage, and helpful water conservation tips, visit the District’s website. You’ll find a helpful three-document set under Documents > Knowing and Understanding Your TNW Water Sewer Bill.

MUD Board Change

After 15 years of serving on the Terranova West Board, Ken Barrett has resigned from his role as Vice President effective March 20, 2025. Ken and his wife, Maureen, sold their home and have moved out of the District. A retired Exxon engineer, Ken’s experience, knowledge, and contributions to the District will be greatly missed. The Board extends their best wishes to Ken and Maureen.

The Board is pleased to announce long time resident of Terranova West, George Hatfield, was appointed to the Board. George, a retired project manager, has been attending MUD Board meetings for over a year learning about the District operations, asking questions, and offering thoughtful opinions. George’s desire to learn about the District, his business knowledge, and enthusiasm for our community will serve the District well. Welcome to the board, George!

Lady Bird Johnson and Our Girl Scout Elena are Most Disappointed This Morning!

Yesterday, a resident advised the Board the Terravista detention pond greenspace wildflowers had been mowed down. Unfortunately, it’s true and most disappointing after all the hard work that’s been done year on year to expand the wildflowers.

The District’s landscape crew failed to heed their mowing instructions. This morning the owner held a team meeting to reinforce the mowing instructions set by the District for detention pond mowing during wildflower season March through June.

Fortunately, it’s not all lost for the season. While we’ve most likely lost the Bluebonnets for this year, Mother Nature spreads the variety of blooms out over the spring and summer so we should still see a good crop of Crimson Clover, Indian Paintbrush, and many more.
