Reclaim Irrigation System Update

The MUDs reclaim irrigation system is now complete and online. Up to this point the system has been running in daily test mode with each zone running for 15 minutes. Overwatering for sure but necessary to ensure all zones and all features associated with them are working properly. Now that the system is online, the District’s consultant, Masuen, is managing the system from their headquarters in Washington State. First order for them is to build the individual zone day and run times to irrigate. When complete, the reclaim irrigation run times will greatly reduce and run mostly early mornings. The MUD park entrance and utility gate area has been extremely wet lately, the cause is not a system leak, it’s the auto flushing of the booster pumps. MUD Park and Detention Pond Greenspaces

Now that the reclaim irrigation system is up and running, replacement and enhancement trees and shrubs have been identified and will be planted as soon as the weather permits. Improvements to rock walls, the addition of a bench at the Oaks detention pond, and other improvements are all in the works.

The MUD park baseball field, volleyball court, and soccer field are all on a first come, first served basis. Field reservations are no longer taken.

Keeping an “Eye on your Water”?

The District encourages each resident to monitor the amount of water you use by downloading the EyeOnWater app. It is a quick, reliable tool that tracks your water usage and can even help with leak detection. Irrigation systems, pools and water softeners can all be contributors to increasing your water usage.

If your water bill continues to increase, it is not because of rate increases. The RWA has lowered their rates 3 times over the last 2 years and the District has not raised water rates in many years.

The District’s Emergency Broadcast Messaging System

Are you receiving emails and texts from the District? The District will broadcast messages to communicate critical events affecting the District’s water/sewer operation to residents in real time. The system is also used to communicate periodic routine updates and information to residents.

Monthly Board Meetings

Residents are encouraged to attend the monthly Board meetings to learn what is happening in the District. Regular monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month, at the clubhouse (unless otherwise stated) and start promptly at 6pm. Resident input is always the first item on the agenda. Agendas are posted on the District website no later than 3 days prior to the meeting.

Welcome to Our Website

A Municipal Utility District (MUD) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas authorized by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to provide water, sewage, parks, drainage, and other utility-related services within the MUD boundaries. Reference the document titled “TCEQ Guide to Water Districts” on this site for an explanation of a MUD. The Terranova West Municipal Utility District, (the District) includes the Terranova West, Oaks of Terranova West, Terravista, and Villa Nova neighborhoods and the commercial properties on the south side of Louetta Road between and on both sides of TC Jester and Terranova West Drive. The District map can be found on this site under the About tab.

The District operates separately from the Property Owners Association.

To insure receipt of District emergency broadcast messages, residents are urged to sign up for the District’s emergency broadcast message service at https://www.tnwmud.org/email-and-text-message-alerts/ or by clicking the Sign up for Disrtict Alerts Link in the upper right hand corner above.

H20 Innovation (formerly Hays Utility South) is the District’s Operator, responsible for servicing and maintaining the District’s water/sewer system, provide for billing services, and providing a customer service call center. For a more detailed explanation of what the Operator does and a link to H20’s website, click on the Water tab.

Reclaimed Water for Irrigation Project Update

The TNW MUD Board Directors are pleased to announce the new, state of the art, remote monitored, smart controller, reclaim irrigation system will be on line irrigating most common areas within the District by the end of July.

The system is expected to save the District and POA a combined 3 million gallons of water, replace expensive treated water for irrigation with reclaimed water, and reduce operating costs by remotely monitoring and managing the system. The 5 new smart controllers, the heart of the system, replace 15 aging manual controllers that use current weather data and zone by zone landscape data to program the zone run times eliminating the guesswork of manual programming. Sensors will prevent the system from overwatering by turning the system off during inclement weather and high ground water levels and auto adjust run times as the seasons and weather changes. While the system cannot determine a leak down to a spray head level it can locate an area where a suspected leak is allowing the District’s landscape crews to respond and repair much quicker than in the past saving lost water and repair costs.

This smart controller reclaim irrigation system is only 1 of 3 within the tri county area and the only one in Harris County.

Incentives provided by the North Harris County Regional Authority for the switch to reclaim water for irrigation and a generous grant from the Harris Galveston Subsidence District because of the Districts innovative water conservation design helped make the project possible.

Park & Greenspaces

The park and greenspaces belong to you the residents and the District wants you to enjoy walking the trails either in the park or around the detention ponds. Water Plant News!

The major upgrades to the District’s water plant have been completed. These photos show

• new flashing, new roof and exterior paint job of the building

• new interior paint and all new mechanical control panels

The District wants our residents to be informed of the improvements that are made in order to keep our water safe to drink and meeting all of the TCEQ water standards.

If you experience a color or taste issue with your water, it is important that you contact the H2o Call Center to report the issue and request H2o dispatch a field rep to check it out. That information also helps identify potential problem areas that H2o can focus on. The Call Center number is on your water/sewer bill and on both the District and H2o Innovation websites.
