District Updates – October 2026

Reclaim Irrigation Update

The District’s reclaim water irrigation system marked the one year anniversary in September. During the past year, 14,007,472 gallons of reclaim water were used to irrigate MUD and POA properties in the District saving residents $91,519 compared to using treated water for irrigation. In addition to the improved look of the common areas irrigated with reclaim water, the savings directly impacts MUD and POA budgets.

If you have questions about the reclaim irrigation system or want to know more, send an email to tnw.mud@gmail.com. You will always receive a prompt, honest, accurate reply.

2026 MUD Proposed Tax Rate

The Board will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2026 tax rate at its October 15, 2026 Board meeting.

Park News and Greenspaces Update

The new “Little Free Library”, located at the entrance to the Villa Nova detention pond greenspace, Green Elm at Terravista Dr, is off to a very good start. Check it out, borrow a book, and leave a book. Laurie Moreland and her husband Vincent graciously donated the “Little Free Library”. Learn more about the Little Free Library program at  https://littlefreelibrary.org.

Fall is here and it’s great weather for walking. There’s no need to get in your vehicle and drive to a county park when you have easy access to the trails in the MUD & POA park, the Terravista detention pond, and Villa Nova/Oaks detention pond. All of the trails are well maintained, made using crushed granite so they are easy on the knees. Click here for the District map detailing the park and detention pond locations. https://www.tnwmud.org/about/#map

Have a suggestion for the park or greenspaces? Send your idea by email to tnw.mud@gmail.com and we’ll consider it, after all, It’s your park!

Harris County Flood Control News

Construction on the four new detention ponds south of Cypresswood and east of TC Jester continues. The addition of these detention ponds is good news for those Terranova West residents flooded out during Hurricane Harvey but the flow of dump trucks hauling out dirt right now is constant and that will continue for the foreseeable future. The dump trucks are now using a new driveway entrance/exit from the project site on Cypresswood in addition to TC Jester. The MUD Board lobbied the general contractor to stop dump truck drivers from making a U turn at Springton and it appears the practice has stopped.
