Park News & Greenspaces Update

Because of the unseasonably mild weather we’re experiencing, the reclaim water irrigation system has been turned back on early. The wildflowers in the Terravista detention pond greenspace, led by the Bluebonnets, are popping up early this year.

Since the reclaim water irrigation system went live in September, through the end of February, the system has saved the TNW POA $15,695.53 and the TNW MUD $19,124.19. A very good return on the investment.

Nine Yaupon bushes were planted in the Cypresswood Medians within the District.  The corner beds on either side of T C Jester at Cypresswood were freshened up, new shrubs & Rudbeckia for color will be added. The District has selected Rudbeckia for its beds to replace twice yearly annual planting because it’s a perennial with vibrant green foliage and bright yellow flowers that bloom from spring to well into winter requiring minimal care saving the District money.

Seems the deer have taken a liking to the new blackberry bushes planted in the Terravista Detention Pond Greenspace. We’ll see what we can do to discourage that. They were planted with our kids in mind for picking when they start to produce fruit. Unlikely we’ll see much of a crop if any this year but as the bushes mature, we’re expecting a good crop of Blackberries year on year.  Fun to pick and even better to eat!

If you haven’t seen them, the six military branch flag poles around the Veterans Monument have been upgraded, greatly improving the look of the monument.  Our veterans deserve as much.

It’s sad to see the loss of mature trees in the MUD park. As discretionary funds are available, new trees will be added to replace them.

The MUD Board is always looking for opportunities to improve the look of the park and detention pond green spaces for the enjoyment of our residents, interesting trees are a big part of that. Over the years, Mexican Sycamore, Pecan, Boysenberry, Magnolia, and others have been added for interest and variety. The latest is a Fig tree located off the trail close to the US Texas flagpole. It’ll be a while before it produces tasty figs, but it’ll be worth the wait. If you have a particular type of tree that you would like to see added to the park, drop us an email and we’ll see if we can make it happen.

Strip Center Update

The District has been advised that a coffee shop is planned for the south end of the T C Jester strip center.

Did you know the commercial properties along Louetta Road, the MUD park, and the three detention pond green spaces within the MUD District are all outside the POA boundaries?

Construction Update

Completion of the Green Elm lift station is running behind schedule. When completed, the project will greatly improve the performance and reliability of the lift station.  The landscaping in front of the lift station, and immediately across Green Elm from it where materials were staged will be restored by the District’s landscaper.

If you haven’t already, consider adding the Constable’s “C4 Now!” app to your mobile phone. It gives you quick access to a lot of useful information.

Did You Know?????

The MUD Board has not raised the District’s resident water/sewer rates since 2020.  The Board is doing all it can do to hold the residential rates for as long as it can.

Since 2008, the MUD Board has lowered the MUD tax rate 0.1727 cents per $100 of your home’s assessed value. Each September, the MUD Board sets the proposed MUD tax rate based on input from the District’s financial analyst and consultants. The proposed rate is published in the local newspaper for public review and comment, the final rate is set at the October board meeting.
