Lady Bird Johnson and Our Girl Scout Elena are Most Disappointed This Morning!

Yesterday, a resident advised the Board the Terravista detention pond greenspace wildflowers had been mowed down. Unfortunately, it’s true and most disappointing after all the hard work that’s been done year on year to expand the wildflowers.

The District’s landscape crew failed to heed their mowing instructions. This morning the owner held a team meeting to reinforce the mowing instructions set by the District for detention pond mowing during wildflower season March through June.

Fortunately, it’s not all lost for the season. While we’ve most likely lost the Bluebonnets for this year, Mother Nature spreads the variety of blooms out over the spring and summer so we should still see a good crop of Crimson Clover, Indian Paintbrush, and many more.

A very successful wildflower seedball toss!

An enthusiastic group of residents and kids participated in Elena’s wildflower seedball toss event this morning at the District’s Terravista detention pond. Her project is guaranteed to add to the existing wildflowers.

The MUD Board thanks Elena for her project and all who attended.

Bluebonnets and other early blooming wildflowers are already popping up. If you haven’t walked the area, come out and walk the trail, enjoy the early wildflowers and, you may see some of the deer and other wildlife that frequent it. You’ll be glad you did.
